Dash, often referred to as Speedy, is a Cheetah seen throughout the Kimba the White Lion series, being one of Kimba's younger friends. He is often seen alongside Dot and Dinkie.

Appearance[]

Dash is shown as a very young cheetah, the smallest compared to Dinkie and Dot. He has a long, light brown mane behind his head, going down his neck, and a rather large nose.

His earlier appearances have him with dull grey-blue fur, though later appearances show his fur a far more prominent blue.

History[]

Kimba the White Lion (Jungle Emperor)[]

Throughout much of the series, he is seen with Dot and Dinkie. Unlike them though, he had a few episodes dedicated to him by himself:

In the episode "Scrambled Eggs", Dash mistakenly tossed a pile of bird eggs into a river, at the time not knowing what Eggs are and mistaking them for rocks. Seeing his mistake, he and the other kids find them down river, with him leading the group, and successfully gather the eggs out of the river before they could be swept down a waterfall.

In the episode "The Return of Fancy Prancy" he becomes proud on finding his sister Fancy Prancy, and takes her back home. When an invasion of ants strikes the jungle, he is the only one left behind, becoming too weak to run away by the time Kimba found him. He is buried underground out of harms way, and after the invasion of ants, is reunited with Prancy.

Trivia[]

  • Although named Dash, most episodes refer to him as “Speedy” in the NBCE 1966 US English Dub. It is possible the '66 dub team confused him with another spotted cat character they named Speedy. This is not the first time the dub team confused characters and character names.
  • Dash's blue fur could be a reference to the real life example known as "Chinchilla Cheetahs," which are also called Blue Cheetahs.
  • In the 1966 film Jungle Emperor, Dash, along with his two buddies, Dinkie and Dot get eaten up by the Destroyers of the Desert (The Gods of Death)(Despite this Dash appears in various scenes of the film).
  • He makes two cameo appearances in the sequel series Leo the Lion (Onward, Leo).
