The Donga River (also known as Dead River in the 1966 Dub) is a river that runs through Panja's jungle and into other surrounding areas in Africa.
Donga River[]
There is a Donga river that exists in the real world. It is a river in Nigeria and Cameroon. The river arises from the Mambilla Plateau in Eastern Nigeria, forms part of the international border between Nigeria and Cameroon, and flows northwest to eventually merge with the Benue River in Nigeria.
In Jungle Emperor (manga)[]
In the manga, Panja's jungle resides downstream of the river while the a human tribe resides upstream. The river causes disputes among the human tribes. Conga, the leader of the tribe that resides upstream of the Donga, wants to capture Kenichi and take over the downstream area.
In Kimba the White Lion (Jungle Emperor)[]
The Donga river is a bridge between Panja's jungle and the jungle where Kitty (Lyra) lives with her uncle, Specklerex (Malody). In Ep. 7 - Battle at Dead River, Claw (Bubu) take Kitty near the river after she agrees to be his wife in order not to hurt the other animals. Kimba (Leo) fights off Claw (Bubu), along with Cassius, Tom and Tab. When she is safe, Kimba sends her off to meet her uncle by using the river and a river log.
