Orangutans are animals that appear in the Jungle Emperor Universe.
Description[]
The Bornean Orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus) is a species of orangutan native to the island of Borneo. Together with the Sumatran orangutan, it belongs to the only genus of great apes native to Asia. Adult male orangutans develop cheekpads. These are used to amplify calls, attract females and assert dominance over other males.
Social Characteristics[]
Like the other great apes, orangutans are highly intelligent, displaying advanced tool use and distinct cultural patterns in the wild. Orangutans share approximately 97% of their DNA with humans.
The Bornean orangutan is a critically endangered species, with deforestation, palm oil plantations and hunting posing a serious threat to its continued existence.
In the Universe[]
In Two Hearts and Two Minds, an orangutan was seen, when the Director mistakens him for a Gorilla, but the Director's assistant correctly identified it and said that they can't film a documentary of Africa with an orangutan(Because there are no Orangutans in Africa), but the Director denieds his claims and start filming, at the end of the episode, the orangutan presumably leaved the jungle with the crew.
