Such Sweet Sorrow (Japanese Title: The Phantom Mountain ( まぼろしの山)) is the 45th episode of the series: Kimba the White Lion (Jungle Emperor). This episode mostly resembles the second half of the "Battle" chapter (ch. 10) in the manga.
Tonga plans to capture Kimba (Leo) with the help of her hunter assistants and her army of obedient animals. Kimba and his jungle friends prepare for battle. Unfortunately, they are outmatched and mist retreat to a nearby island by the river. They try and get their spirits up by singing the AIUEO Mambo. All of a sudden, it's starts snowing as the Great Mother Mammoth comes marching into the battle.
Meanwhile, Mr. Pompous (Dr. Mustache) comes around once again to try and find Kenichi (Roger). He finds him after getting captured by Tonga and attacked by crocodiles. The two unfortunately get captured again and are taken as prisoners. When it starts snowing, the animals get convinced to let the two out of their cages in order to get the animals warm. Because of this, the animals turn against Tonga when she returns.
Tonga knocks her head on a rock and it restores her previous memories as Mary. Mr. Pompous (Dr. Mustache), Kenichi (Roger Ranger), and Mary jump on a raft to send them back to the human world. All of them say goodbye to Kimba and his friends for good.
When Mr. Pompous (Dr. Mustache) starts to sing a song as he figures out that he can get out of the animal cage, he sings, "I dream of Mary with a dark brown hair" which is parodying, "Jeanie with light brown hair" by Stephen Foster. However in the Japanese Version, Dr. Mustache sillily sings the ending theme to the show, "Leo's Song". This song also can be heard in the Jungle Emperor (1966 Film).
When the animals are on the island after they were defeated by Tonga, the jungle animals sing a variation of "Sing a Human Song".
