The Wind in the Desert (砂漠の風) is the 2nd episode of Kimba the White Lion (Jungle Emperor). This episode has the song: Hyena Gang.

Syponsis[]

Kimba (Leo) returns to his native jungle, but he gets captured by human gangsters soon enough, obviously doomed to share his parents' fate. However, one of them, James Brawn, reveals himself as a lawman and frees Kimba. On their way back to the jungle, they go through many dangers together until James Brawn perishes from exposure in the desert, but not before convincing Kimba that not all humans are animalkind's enemies. Kimba reclaims his place as prince of the jungle, but not before Claw (Bubu), Cassius (Toto), and the two hyena henchmen: Tom (Dick) and Tab (Bo) try to put an end to him.

English Edits[]

  • In the 1966 dub, Tom (Dick) and Tab (Bo) attack Bucky (Tommy) because Bucky doesn't think Claw's the king of the Jungle, whereas in the original version they just wanted to eat him. This kind of edit happens later too when they chase after Dodie for being a spy, instead of trying to eat her. These edits were possibly done for censorship.
  • Much of the dialogue was altered when Kimba first meets Dan'l Baboon and Pauly Cracker, having Kimba already know who they were despite being their first time meeting eachother: He knows Pauly Cracker by name even before Pauly knew who Kimba was.
  • In the 1993 dub, James Brawn was renamed "Johnathon", the same dubbed name given to Kenichi Ooyama. This was possibly done to connect the two characters together, even knowing James Brawn dies in the episode.
