Tom (Dick) is one of two hyenas working for Claw (Bubu).
Description[]
Tom and Tab, also known as "Dick and Bo" in the original Japanese, are villains in the anime Kimba the White Lion. The two cause trouble for Kimba and his friends.
He and Tab are trickster henchmen under the employ of Claw and Cassius usually acting as spies and informants among other hyenas working for Claw. While they can act punk-ish, they are cowardly and will flee when things start to go against their favor. Most of the time, they serve as a kind of comic relief.

Mighty Atom Club Magazine (manga)[]
Tom and Tab appear in 2 chapters: "Gypsy's Purple Potion" (Mommy of the Forest) and "City of Gold" (Mystery of Dead Man's Cave. Both of their roles are similar to their anime episode counterparts. They trick Leo into giving him poison and get lost in Dead Man's Cave. Everyone works together to find the exit before it crumbles.
Kimba the White Lion (Jungle Emperor)[]
Tom first appears with Tab in ep. 2 - Wind in the Desert, where they introduce themselves to Kimba with a song.
In the episode, City of Gold (31), Tom and Tab are seen without Claw and Cassius for once. They must cooperate with Kimba in order to escape a dark cave.
On one occasion in ep. 35, Tom and Tab fake turning into heroes along with Cassius so as to gain access inside the amusement park Kimba and his associates built over Claw's hunting ground as a safe haven. They quickly reveal their true colors in an unusual performance where they attempt to convince the animal children that being evil is glamorous and rewarding. The hyenas join Claw in imprisoning Kimba's friends but are easily overcome and defeated.
Tom typically does most of the talking while Tab parrots his speech.

Trivia[]
- The Japanese names for Tom and Tab, "Dick" and "Bo" are named similarly to a Japanese pun meaning "Blockheads" or Good-for-nothings" - でくのぼう (Dekunobo).
- Tom and Tab do not appear in Leo the Lion outside of a quick cameo appearance in the final two minutes of episode 21, Agura the terrible.
- In episode 05 "The Homeland" of (Jungle Emperor 1989), two Hyenas that strongly resemble Tom and Tab briefly appear alongside Claw (Bubu), Cassius (Toto) and Vulture (Character).
- In the Mighty Atom Club Magazine chapter, "The Pretenders", Dick and Bo do not appear, while they do in the '65 anime version of the episode.
